Nia Mathis

General Counsel and Partner
NewHeadshot4-1

From accelerating a 5G technology build, to driving rapid commercialization at a start-up, to protecting a mature $10B operating business, Nia works at the intersection of law, business strategy, and public policy—driving growth, innovation, and responsible corporate leadership.

A multi-faceted business lawyer and executive, Nia orchestrates legal solutions that accelerate growth, streamline costs and clear the way for innovation. Across her 25-year career, 17 of which were spent at Verizon, Nia smoothed pathways for a ground-up infrastructure build by forging public-private partnerships, streamlining costs through local ordinance reform, advocating for beneficial state and federal regulatory landscapes, navigating community resistance, and winning litigation that cleared the way for innovation. Her counsel spans legal and regulatory strategy for consumer and B2B commercialization and operations (i.e., product development, sales, marketing, sourcing and supply chain); sustainability-design thinking; public policy advocacy; corporate social responsibility; and c-suite and board relations.

Recognized for an ability to align business objectives with stakeholder expectations, Nia has managed high-impact relationships with institutional and activist investors, board directors, policymakers, and community leaders. She guides businesses in managing risk and opportunity in key environmental, social and governance areas such as energy, responsible AI, human capital, and supply chain management. Nia drives commercial success and social impact to create wins for profit and people.
